The museum is a futuristic stainless steel building which has been created out of three 'shards' or pieces of a shattered globe to reflect the way war has devastated our world.
Located on the opposite side of the Manchester Ship Canal, a short walk from Sovereign Point is Old Trafford. The stadium is the largest club ground in Britain. Old Trafford’s capacity is in excess of 76,000, making it one of the most atmospheric and historic stadiums in the world.
The Lowry Outlet Mall is situated next door to Sovereign Point and is open 7 days a week. There are over 80 shops, a fast food court and coffee bars such as Coffee Republic.
Vue Cinema is located in the mall as is Esporta Health Club.
There are also a number of bars and restaurants such as Cafe Rouge, Lime, Pizza Express and Pond Quay.
Salford Watersports Centre can be found next to Sovereign Point. It offers numerous activities including dinghy sailing, windsurfing and canoeing.
The water quality in the Quays is monitored by APEM field scientists at eight locations within Salford Quays every two weeks.
